Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Japanese design firm Nendo has announced their latest venture into chocolate. Following their recent experiments with chocolate made in different textures and in the form of a paint set, Nendo’s chocolamixture consists of little flask-shaped chocolates that come with five different flavors in miniature-sized test tubes: freeze-dried mango, freeze-dried raspberry, a popping candy that bursts in your mouth, three colored heart-shaped sugar candies, and chocolate puffs. Even the lids of the chocolate flask are made of white chocolate that has been smoked to develop a cork color. As you might have heard, its Valentine’s Day on Saturday, so here are a few gratuitous images of the incredibly designed treats from Chocolate Bar, a chocolate shop with stores in the West Village in New York City and Manasquan, New Jersey. Handcrafted by master chocolatier Håkan Mårtensson for the Manhattan-based coffee shop chain FIKA, these edible ghoulish skulls, pills, and ghosts are definitely not for handing out to the kiddies tomorrow. FIKA, which was named after the Swedish expression for coffee break, was opened in 2006 by founder and co-owner Lars Åkerlund, who wanted to create a menu heavily inspired by Swedish heritage and flavors but with a modern twist.
