SkateBacks for iPhone 4 and 4s

Each week, enough waste material is thrown away from one skateboard factory to fill a city bus. To help find another use for the leftovers from a Costa Mesa, California-based skateboard factory, the Portland, Oregon-based iPhone and iPad accessories maker Grove collaborated with designer Lindsay Holmes of MapleXO to create a 100% post-industrial product for the iPhone 4 and 4S. While there are three general colorways to choose from, no two SkateBacks are identical — making them more desirable for those of us that don’t want to have exactly what everyone else does. The 1/16”-thick back protector easily attaches to the back of your phone with a peel-and-stick 3M adhesive that Grove claims is removable without residue. While you’d probably want something tougher to protect your phone if you are actually skateboarding, this will do just fine for those of us that gave up that pastime longer ago than we’d like to remember (mine was black and white — what color was yours?) $49.00 U.S. Ships in 2-4 weeks from Portland. D’E-Light Lamp by Philippe Starck

In addition to being an awesome ’90s house band, D’E-Light is a new task lamp from the Italian lighting manufacturer Flos that houses a USB socket above the light diffuser to charge and display an iPod, iPad, or iPhone. By combining a charger with a high-efficiency, polished aluminum lamp, designer Philippe Starck helps clean up the desktop and bedside surface areas that are getting a bit crowded these days with electronics. Retailing for $396 USD, D’E-Light will be available next month in limited quantities in the United States through the company’s New York City showroom at 152 Greene Street.

Tibi iPhone Covers

How you choose to cover (or not cover) your iPhone is an extension of your style, and the options are endless. Launching today is a new group of covers from Power Support USA with designs by the New York-based fashion brand Tibi and fashion designers Rory Beca and Rachel Pally. Tibi’s designs are my favorite from the group; the watercolor-esque figures on the covers are hip and feminine like the clothing line. While suitable for fashionistas of all ages, I think they will be particularly appealing to tweens and teens. Each case will retail for $55.00 and will be available at boutiques nationwide and at www.powersupportusa.com.
