In honor of Movember — the annual event in November where men grow mustaches in order to bring awareness to the early detection, diagnosis, and treatment options for cancer — 1% percent of the sale of the mustache-toting bottle opener, money clip, and money clamp from bottleBoss will be donated to support awareness and education for men’s health issues, especially prostate and testicular cancer. According to statistics provided by the Movember movement, one out of two men will get cancer in their lifetime and one in six men is expected to get prostate cancer.  All of the funds raised by the movement will go towards prostate cancer and testicular cancer initiatives. $9.95 (bottle opener); $15.95 (money clip); $19.97 (money clamp).

Omhu Canes

Canes do not have the reputation of being the most stylish of accessories, unless they belong to a baddie in a James Bond film. That’s why the aptly-named “00” line of canes from Omhu—a Danish design firm focused on medical equipment and accessories—are a much welcome exception. Made from aluminum and painted with bicycle paint, the canes can support up to 300 pounds while remaining exceptionally light weight. The handles of the original Omhu/00 cane ($99) and the Omhu Tuxedo ($125) are both made of birch, finished with a non-toxic vegetable oil. The handle of the Tuxedo is stained black, though various shades of the birch can still be seen beneath the finish. Painted birch cane docks ($25 each) allow you to display the canes like works of art. Cleverly Designed Obama Campaign Swag

The folks behind the New York City shop KioskKiosk have come up with a clever way to help support their favorite candidate for president. From now until Election Day, they are selling Obama re-election souvenirs in their shop and on their site, with all proceeds going to the Obama campaign. Those who prefer to volunteer their time are in luck, as the shop has opened up an “Obama Call Booth” during store hours, where you can earn credit for the items depending on how many calls you make urging folks to vote (10 calls gets a “We Shall Over Comb” comb, 15 calls gets a “Our Guy is Fly” glider, etc.). And if Obama doesn’t win, supporters can still console themselves drinking whisky from a glass with his face all over it, or by playing with the irreverent “Gawd Dam” Mitt paddle. While walking around this summer’s New York Gift Show, i spotted these colorful and glossy Bento Boxes. Handmade in Japan by Takenaka, these adorable containers have removable partitions and come in 13 colors and seven styles, making it easy to remember which one is yours when you have to run out the door in the morning. The team at San Diego’s x.pollinate studio has upcycled discarded modeling basswood from architecture studios into custom-designed and lasercut dog tags that even the most picky perrito would be proud to wear. The tags are part of a line of products the studio has crafted from leftover materials, including lights from recycled lasercut cardboard and a spice rack made of reclaimed wood from local woodworking shops.
