For every Ukraine Twist candle sold, the Celsius54 Candle Co. is donating $25.00 to Sunflower of Peace, a Boston-based charity directly helping victims of the war.  Sunflower of Peace is a nonprofit organization with a mission to mobilize support and aid for Ukrainian orphans, internally displaced persons, and those most affected by the current situation by providing medical assistance and other necessities. Due to the current crisis, Sunflower of Peace started a new fundraiser to provide medical and humanitarian aid that will be used by the paramedics and doctors in the areas that are most affected by the violence in Ukraine. They are acquiring and distributing first-aid backpacks, medicine, medical instruments, and other items that are saving hundreds of lives. Two Brazilian Shoe Brands Collaborate with Iconic Designers

Move over Rem Koolhaas and Zaha Hadid. The shoe world is drawing more big-name designers to the footwear industry, starting with a collaboration between the famous Brazilian shoe brand Ipanema and the world-renowned designer Philippe Starck. Called Ipanema with STARCK, the Spring/Summer 2016 collection is a re-envisioning of the modern sandal. Offered in four distinct designs in 12 colors each, the collection is both modern, yet comfortable, qualities that do not always go hand-in-hand (or foot-in-foot?) when it comes to shoes. The sandals are made of 30% recycled materials and are 100% recyclable. To achieve Starck’s designs, Ipanema adapted its industrial process to be more manual and artisanal, resulting in a production process employing a proprietary plastique injection technique. Available worldwide, the shoes range from $30-$40. Perhaps not to be outdone by their countrymen, another Brazilian footwear brand, Melissa Shoes, has collaborated with the furniture design duo the Campana Brothers. Inspired by their Baroque furniture collection, the Melissa Barroca x Campana collection are plastic flats that “lend a playful interpretation of Italian Baroque infused with the vibrancy of everyday Brazilian culture,” according to the brand. Dopper Reusable Water Bottle

Dopper founder and CEO Merijn Everaarts felt compelled to develop a new type of reusable water bottle after watching a documentary about the “Great Pacific Garbage Patch” that is roughly twice the size of the U.S. After holding a design competition to find the perfect reusable bottle for drinking water, Everaarts selected a design by Delft Univeristy of Technology alumnus Rinke van Remortel. The bottle comes apart to be easily cleaned and features a built-in cup that also doubles as a stand. The original version of the Cradle to Cradle-certified water bottle is made of polyproplyene (for the bottle and the cap), ABS plastic for the white cup, TPE for the sealing rings in the cap and the cup, and Bisphenol A, a plasticizer that may leach from its material and enter the food chain. A steel version of the bottle, which will be available in a few months, replaces the polypropylene with steel and does not contain any Bisphenol A.
