Desktop Accessories by Beyond Object

Beyond Object is a design label of the London-based design studio Poetic Lab that creates and distributes “poetic objects” around the world, including desktop objects, accessories, and tableware that are manufactured and crafted in Taiwan. After creating a temporary showroom during Milan Design Week in April, Beyond Object presented their new line of sculptural desktop accessories during the Maison et Objet Americas fair held earlier this month in Miami. One of the stars of the new collection is Cantili, a tape dispenser made of a pair of cantilevered mirror polished concave disks available in gold, cooper, and silver finishes. Penpo is a magnetic desk organizer made of three tubes of different materials, height, and size that have magnetic joints to form playful combinations. Funno is a pencil sharpener machined from a solid block of metal and hand-polished to a mirror finish in various colors. Funno, which also doubles as a paperweight, comes in mirror-polished gold, copper, and silver. Last but not least, Lino is a structured letter opener that has been reduced down to its outline. AllSwell Notebook

The AllSwell Notebook is a slim, travel-friendly journal made in the U.S. from recycled materials. Launched by Laura Rubin, founder and creative director of Left Left Right (LLR) Consulting, the 8.5” x 6.5” notebook is essentially two journals in one, including a lined “WRITE” side and a unlined “DRAW” side perfect for sketching. A percentage of the proceeds will go to A Walk on Water, an organization that provides water therapy through guided surf instruction to specials needs children. The notebook has 96 blank pages: 48 lined and 48 unlined.   Designed by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin for Herman Miller‘s Objects program, Formwork is a modular system of containers that can be arranged, stacked, and combined to best organize the gadgets and desk accessories that you need closest at hand. The small and large trays feature cantilevered ledges for easy stacking and access. For the collection’s  large and small boxes, designed for bulkier items, the designers added removable lids and holes that can double as cup holders. Christian Lacroix Maison’s New Stationery Collection by Libretto Group

Launched in 2010, the Christian Lacroix “Papier” range of stationary included notebooks, sketch pads, correspondence, and greeting and birthday cards. The newest collection, which applies fresh new graphics and techniques that are truly Lacroix, includes desk boxes, a butterfly paperweight (with its own colorful box), notebooks with stunning endpapers, notecards, and even an animal jigsaw puzzle.

ClickTape Tape Dispenser by Derk Reilink

Dutch designer Derk Reilink has a reason to be in a good mood. Having just exceeded his Kickstarter campaign goal by a thousand euros, Reilink will finally see his dream of bringing his ClickTape tape dispenser concept to market — a process that first began back in 2006 — with production starting at the beginning of August. Retailing for $14 (including the tape) ClickTape has reduced the dispenser to its bare essentials. A flexible plastic ring, made of 12 grams of plastic, allows a role of tape to be easily clicked into the dispenser, eliminating the need of a plastic roller used in traditional tape dispensers. A durable stainless steel blade matches the curvature of the ring shape of the dispenser and a special indent above the blade makes it easy to grab the end of the tape (something that is tricky for young kids and those with disabilities to do). ClickTape will come in black, blue, turquoise, and green and is sleek enough to earn a coveted space on even the most minimal of desks.   All images courtesy …
